AVG 2012 Setup Guide
What to do after you have installed AVG 2012! – THE NUMBER ONE IN SECURITY SOFTWARE
The following will improve protection of your computer from all of those nasty virus’s.
- Open the AVG Software, DOUBLE-CLICK [DC] on the AVG ICON.
- In the AVG Header bar – Select TOOLS then ADVANCED SETTINGS
- Now that you are in the ADVANCED SETTINGS
- Find and Select ANTI-VIRUS – RESIDENT SHIELD
- In the RESIDENT SHIELD – CHECK-BOX [CB] – Report enhanced set of potential unwanted programs.
- CB – Enable thorough scanning
- Find and select E-MAIL PROTECTION – E-MAIL SCANNER
- CB – Check Outgoing e-Mail
- CB – Modify subject of virus infected messages
- CB – Report enhnaced set of potential unwanted programs
- CB – Enable thorough scanning
- CB – Report hidden extenstions
- Find and select SCANS – WHOLE COMPUTER SCAN
- CB – Report enhanced set of potential unwanted programs
- CB – Scan inside archives
- CB – Enable thorough scanning
- CB = ALL FILE TYPES
- SCANS – SHELL EXTENSION SCAN
- CB – Automatically heal/remove infections
- CB – Report enhanced set of potential unwanted programs
- CB – Scan system environment
- CB – Enable thorough scanning.
- SCANS – SPECIFIC FILES OR FOLDER SCAN
- CB – Report enhanced set of potential unwanted programs
- CB – Scan system environment
- CB – Enable thorough scanning
- CB = ALL FILE TYPES
- SCANS – REMOVABLE DEVICE SCAN
YOUR OPTION – IF ENABLED USE SAME SETTING AS # 5 - Find and select SCHEDULES – SCHEDULED SCAN
- CB = ENABLE THIS TASK [ 2011 ONLY ] [ 2012 HAS IT DONE ]
- Run at a specific time interval:
- The time is up to you = IF YOU LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER ON 24/7
- SCAN TIME AT 3:00AM – While your still sleeping.
- Find and select SCHEDULES – DEFINITIONS UPDATE SCHEDULE
- UPDATE TIME AT 1:00AM – Again while your sleeping but two hours before SCAN TIME
- Find and select SCHEDULES – PROGRAM UPDATE SCHEDULE
- UPDATE TIME AT 1:00AM – Again while you sleeping.
- Find and select IDENTITY PROTECTION
- CB – AUTOMATICALLY QUARANTINE KNOWN THREATS.
